: im afraid to date ppl bc i dont want to hurt them when we break up...?

so in 9th grade i broke up with this girl. im a nice guy i guess, so i hate to make girls, heck any1 sad. well i didnt really love her nemore but she apparently did. she took it hard for a year. now im about to finish my 10th grade year and im afraid to date someone bc i jus think about eventually we'll break up (i mean it's high school and most relationships won't last) and then they'll be hurt in the end, or i might get to the point where they like me but i jus like them as friends and they get hurt tht way too. i just don't want to go thru tht agin. I know u have to take chances in love but... Do i have a bad philosophy on love? Any advice on this? im 16, male
