My friends mother ped away?

my daughters best friend' mother and i have an occionally drink after work and get together occionally on the weekends. i found out her mother ped away 3 days late!!! as you can see, we dont chat that often and i'm not too close to her family. at this point it seems senseless to take them food, the family has already come and gone. her nephew works at a flower shop so i imagine they had plenty of those. i called her the day i found out to give my condolences, i was actually on my way to visit with her and she just wanted some rest, so i told her, then i would visit her another day. question is - now what? should i visit empty handed?
