How often should I water orchids?

Have orchids on "trees" which gets morning sunshine. Have been watering before sunshine gets to them and after they are in the shade. Then again at dusk dark. Is this too much? One plant has started to develop a white spot in the middle of the leaves and then they turn yellow and die. What am I doing wrong?
