Why do Republicans hate the free exchange of knowledge and information?

Million dollar question, lamplighter...it seems the republicans (gag) want to be in control of everything and everybody and they will make outrageous claims and statments to maintain that power and control, which is why we have jerks like bill o'reilly shouting people down and cutting off their microphones--all in an attempt to control others....it's a shame america has come to this and the elephant heads are most responsible. It seems they care less about what is best for the country and more about having control. Boy george will go down in history as our worst president, ever.
